I was honoured to sign the first ever Métis Nation Early Learning and Child Care Accord, on behalf of the Hon. Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, today.

Alongside me were: President of the Métis National Council, Clément Chartier and Métis Nation Minister of Social Development, David Chartrand, Métis Nation of Alberta President Audrey Poitras, President of Métis Nation B.C. Clara Morin Dal Col, and President of Métis Nation of Ontario Margaret Froh.

Our government has committed up to $450 million over 10 years to strengthen early learning and child care programs and services for Métis children and their families. The Accord signed today, builds on the collaborative work and relationship between our government and Indigenous peoples with the recognition of rights, respect and co-operation at the forefront of the partnership.
